Holding infinity in the palm of your hand appropriates William Blake’s phrase to speak of the contingency of art as that metaphorical place where everything is possible, though nothing is necessary. Where art establishes itself as a tool of knowledge, as a prism for understanding the world, a world where every decision and every path are determining factors.
Time, as a conceptual tool, has been used consistently by Eugenio Ampudia throughout his career. His proposal is articulated emphatically and envelops the audience from the moment they enter the space. Forced to navigate a small maze of clocks, viewers are inevitably confronted with real and metaphorical time, a maze that first traps and then envelops them, finally releasing them once they have passed through.
